The Welsh national soccer team captain took to social media platform Twitter to express his dismay.

“Just read about elephants being poisoned for their ivory in Zimbabwe. Absolutely shocking”, said Ramsey.

Poachers going after elephant tusks laced the water source used by the animals with deadly poison cyanide resulting in 81 elephants and several other animal species dead at the country’s Hwange National Park near the Victoria Falls.

Police revealed that the syndicate, led by a South African businessman, mixed a combination of cyanide, salt and water and poured the cocktail into about 35 salt licks at watering holes known to be frequented by elephants.
